It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Ellie, who left this world on November 9th, surrounded by family. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, whose presence illuminated every room and whose love touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Ellie lived a life defined by selflessness and compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own. A remarkable caretaker, who nurtured not only her own family but anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her endless love and unwavering support were felt by all, and her kindness was a special gift!
As a teacher, Ellie imparted wisdom and guidance with a rare combination of patience, encouragement, and genuine care. She inspired countless students to believe in themselves and to approach life with an open heart. But it was not only in the classroom where she made her mark. As a mother and grandmother, Ellie built a legacy of love, warmth, and strength-values that will live on through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.
Ellie's spirit was truly one of a kind - she had a sparkle that was truly unique. Her spirit will continue to inspire us and guide us. Ellie left a profound legacy, one built on love, compassion, and an unshakeable belief in love and family. Preceded in death by her husband Ronald. Survived by children Kyle Van Guilder and Leah (Michael) Van Guilder Berkland; grandchildren Zilya Van Guilder and Peyton, Whitten, and Yanna Berkland; and sister Kathie Erickson.
There will be a Celebration of Life on December 3rd, please email [email protected] for details.
The family is figuring out a way to share Ellie's love of books and reading for others to enjoy for years to come!
