Eleanor Ventresca Obituary
Eleanor Jane (DePaoli) Ventresca, 89, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born November 1, 1936, in Cecil, PA, to Sylvan and Mary (Havel) DePaoli, she was a 1958 graduate of Slippery Rock (PA) University with a degree in education. A dedicated homemaker to her husband and three children, later in life Eleanor worked for many years preparing and serving lunch in the cafeterias at North Stratfield and Timothy Dwight elementary schools in Fairfield. Eleanor loved spending time with her family, making delicious Hungarian and Italian dishes and baking cookies, cakes and pies that were enjoyed by all. Sunday supper, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Super Bowl were family gatherings she made special with her cooking. Eleanor was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following tennis, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the UCONN women's basketball team, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets. Eleanor is survived by her children Robert Ventresca and his wife Sharon of Branford, Susan Neikirk and her husband John of Bethel, Marc Ventresca and his wife Jennifer of Trumbull, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 54 years, Gilio. Eleanor's family will miss her unconditional love and support and treasure the many memories of their time together. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:00a.m. to 10:30a.m., in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will be private.
