Elena Alexandra Rodriguez

Elena Alexandra Rodriguez, age 41, formerly of Griffith, Chesterton and Merrillville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Manteno, Illinois. She was born on November 7, 1984, in Merrillville, Indiana, to Edgar J. and Angie (Rodriguez) Rodriguez.
Elena is survived by her two beloved daughters, Sage Alexandra Rodriguez and Skye Victoria Rodriguez-Anderson; brother, David J. Rodriguez; boyfriend, Bill Skala; her parents, Angie Rodriguez-Graham and Edgar J. (Catherine) (Martha Galvan) Rodriguez; her maternal grandmother, Olivia Rodriguez; uncle Manuel (Debbie) Rodriguez III, aunts Dora (Rodriguez, Gonzalez,Zamarron) Wells, and Myrna (Rodriguez) (Javier) Garcia; aunts Gina Laughead, Gloria Esther Laughead and Elba DeJesus; and many additional family members and friends.
Elena was preceded in death by her stepfather, Gene J. Graham, her beloved paternal grandmother, Aleja Rodriguez, and other family members and friends.
Elena graduated from Griffith High School in Griffith, Indiana, and she also graduated from Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois where she studied Media Arts, focusing on Special Effects Makeup. She learned on-the-job how to bake, design and decorate cakes. She learned on-the-job how to design and prepare floral arrangements. She also worked as a chef and loved cooking. Her additional skills included, but were not limited to: creating, designing and making jewelry, clay sculpting (intricate objects like dragons), and drawing anything and everything. She dabbled and excelled in a myriad of other things too numerous to mention. Elena's biggest passion after her daughters, were her pets. Among her many pets, she had an axolotl named "Covid" who she loved dearly, an opossum named "Beau" and had, over the summer, lost her best and long-time companion, "Chloe," her German Shepherd.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elena's daughters, c/o her mother, Angie.
