Visitation for Laura Ann Massara, age 56, of Lake-In-The-Hills, will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Interment, with her mother, Jacquelynn Rae Massara, will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Laura was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and the late Jacquelynn Massara; loving sister of Julie Frost and Stephen Massara; beloved aunt of Karina Frost; and the best friend and fiancée of Steve Moore.
Laura grew up in Palatine, Illinois, attending Pleasant Hill School and Fremd High School before enrolling at Columbia College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Photography. Photography became her passion, and she delighted in playing with light and color to capture the beauty she saw in the world.
Following in her father’s and brother’s footsteps, Laura worked at United Air Lines in Ramp Service until her retirement. She loved to travel, first with her parents and later on her own. She briefly lived in San Francisco before returning to Illinois and settling in Lake-In-The-Hills.
Laura and Steve Moore enjoyed each other’s company and supported one another through hard times. Cooking was a favorite activity they often shared, especially outdoors at the barbecue, and of course enjoying the meals they created together was part of that shared joy.
Laura had a deep love for animals and considered her dogs her children. She proudly raised four dogs in her home and was especially proud to have owned the first female dog in the Massara family. She cared deeply for animals in need and always did what she could to help those who were suffering. That same generous spirit extended to her neighbors and friends, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or simply be present when someone needed her. She even collected old bikes and fishing poles, brought them home to fix up, and then gave them away to others who could use them.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
