Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services - Palatine LocationA Visitation will be held for Phillip L. Arnold, 90, from 10:30a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30a.m. at St. Paul UCC 144 East Palatine Rd, Palatine IL 60074 on Saturday, April 25, 2026, to honor Phillip’s life. A Luncheon will follow the Service.
Phillip was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He passed away after a long battle with Lewy Body and Parkinsons.
Born in Warren OH, on August 12, 1935, Phillip lived a life defined by dedication to family, professional excellence, and a love for music and the outdoors. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1958 with a degree in metallurgical engineering and went on to build a distinguished 40-year career in the steel industry. Phillip, a Delta Tau Delta, met his wife Lynn, a Delta Zeta at the university and recently celebrated their 66th anniversary.
In 1981, Phillip moved his family to Palatine, Illinois, where he filled a home with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed worldwide traveling, skiing, and hunting—pursuits that reflected his appreciation for nature. Phillip was an active long-time member of St. Paul UCC in Palatine.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Zana (nee Renner) Arnold; his brothers, Dave and Max, his sister Bertha; and his beloved daughter, Jody Peterson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Mary Arnold (nee Schriever), his daughter, Tracy Lynn Kerlin (Bruce), son-in-law Paige Peterson, and his cherished grandchildren, Michael Kerlin (Maria), Cassandra Grimm (Jared), Matthew Kerlin (Maddie), Carolynn Keaskowski (Brandon), Rex Peterson (Grace), and Kade Peterson (Jess). Phillip is also survived by many generations of nieces and nephews. Phillip’s family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in watching his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and events.
Phillip will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady guidance, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and the memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages loved ones to remember Phillip by making a contribution to the Jody Arnold Peterson Memorial Fund at the Pi Beta Phi Foundation, PO Box 801867, Kansas City, MO 64180 or to the St Paul UCC Memorial fund sent to the above church address.
