Elfreida Plyler

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC ~ Mrs. Daisy Elfreida "Granny" Hall Plyler, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Born July 12, 1940, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Ocie Melvin Hall, Sr. and the late Mae Aline Deese Hall and was the wife of the late Thomas Frank Plyler. Elfreida was of the Christian faith and a member of Zion Methodist Church. She fulfilled a long-held dream by spending her final four years living at the beach in Surfside Beach, SC.

She was famous for her exceptional baking skills, with her thumbprint cookies being particularly favored among family and friends. Elfreida found joy in the simple pleasures of life - she enjoyed watching sports, with football and baseball being her favorites, and she loved being outdoors and tending to her yard. Above all, she adored her cherished grandkids, great-grandkids, and her cats.

Elfreida is survived by her children, Jackie Plyler Abea, Amanda Plyler (Heaven), and Dwayne Allen Plyler (Leslie); her three grandchildren, Terri Plyler (Pete), Kaden Plyler, and Courtney Plyler; five great-grandchildren, Dillan Merchant, Kaitlyn Butterfield, Brooke Butterfield, Jenna Fields, and Brennan Fields; a sister-in-law, Linda Plyler; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Plyler (Debbie) and Grady Plyler (Byrd).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Plyler; a son, Timothy "Tim" Randall Plyler; her parents, Ocie and Aline Hall; her two brothers, Nathan Hall and Ocie Hall, Jr.; and her two sisters, Mary Duncan and Ivey Hall.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Plyler will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Camp Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jessie Adams and Pastor Kendell Healy. Burial will be held privately for family.
