Elgon Lee Burt Sr., affectionately known as "Lee Lee," passed away on December 10, 2025, in Irving, Texas, at the age of 56. Born on October 8, 1969, in Dallas, Texas, Elgon was the beloved son of Elgon Ross Burt and Betty Ann Burt. He spent his formative years in Dallas, where he attended Sunset High School, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Elgon built a career as a handyman and self-employed scrap metal worker, earning respect for his dedication and work ethic. Throughout his life, he embraced a strong sense of community, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly hanging out with friends and family. His warm presence and laughter will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Elgon was a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his loving spouse, Misty Davis, and his children: Elgon Burt Jr., Kassandra Burt, Harley Burt, Ashley Burt, and Delilah Martinez, along with stepson Lyndon Walker Jr. He also took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Rachel Burt. Elgon is mourned by his parents, Elgon Ross Burt and Betty Burt, and his siblings: Linda Moon, Lisa Wood, Helen Huston, Tina Coleman, Michael Burt, and Bobby Burt, who will hold close the cherished memories they created together.
Elgon is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Lee Burt and Jerry Lee Burt, and his father, Elgon Ross Burt. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a network of friends whose lives he touched.
To honor his memory, visitation will be held on December 22, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving, Texas. A funeral service will follow the next day, December 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Chism-Smith Funeral Home.
Elgon Lee Burt Sr. will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, humor, and commitment to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
