Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A. - TaneytownE. Gordon Brauning, 89, of Taneytown, MD, passed away on November 18, 2025 at home. Born September 18, 1936, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late J. Paul and Emma V. (Green) Brauning. Gordon was to married Shirley R. (Reaver) Brauning for 23 years before her passing March 1980, and Betty (Renner) Brauning for 35 years before her passing in June 2015.
Gordon was a member of the Kingsdale Volunteer Fire Company for 40 years and a former member of Taneytown fire company. He was a life member at Harney Volunteer Fire Company, and he held the ranks of Fire Police and Chaplin for many years. Gordon was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Harney, and former member and Trustee of the Taneytown Presbyterian Church.
Surviving Gordon are sons, Eugene Brauning, and Bradley (Diane) Brauning; daughter-in-law, Tinia Brauning; step-children, Beverly (Stephen) Anthony, Tina (Richard) Golling, and Kimberly (Bill) Kurtz; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Delbert E. Brauning, Margaret (Don Lucas) Brauning, Paula Cross, and Karen (Lee) Chronister; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mary Blum.
Gordon is predeceased by son, Eric A. Brauning; brother, John P. Brauning; sister-in-law, MarySue Brauning; and brothers-in-law, Richard N. Poole, and Charles Cross.
A memorial service in honor of Gordon will be held Saturday, November 29, 12pm, at Harney Volunteer Fire Company, 5130 Harney Road, Taneytown, MD 21787. Family will receive friends from 11am until the time of the service, at the Fire Company.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to Harney Volunteer Fire Company at the above address, or to BridgingLife Hospice, 200 Memorial Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
