Elias Harmon Obituary
Reverend Elias Harmon, age 93, of Grove City, Ohio, was called home to spend eternity with his Savior, on Sunday, August 24, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family, who will miss him tremendously, but know he is reunited with his precious wife of 66 years, Julia Belle, who preceded him in death eight months ago. He left a great legacy of exemplifying the truth of God's word and his faithfulness to Jesus Christ, his wife and his family.
Elias was born May 30, 1932, in Pilgrim, Kentucky to the late Allen and Hazel Harmon. He was a barber for 42 years, and the proud owner of Harmon's Barber Shop on E. Whittier St., Columbus, Ohio, for 37 years, as well as a beloved preacher and pastor. He is survived by three adoring daughters and their husbands - Debbie (Clem) Gentene of Maineville, Ohio, Rhonda (Ely) Conrad of Grove City, Ohio, and Jan (Dave) McGrew of Plain City, Ohio. He cherished his seven grandchildren – Shannon (Jeff) Corona, Tony (Katie) Gentene, Lauren Julia Gentene, Nathan (Brittney) Conrad, Ashley (Matt) Paley, Courtney (Austin) Miller, and Nikki (Ivan) Mast, and nine great-grandchildren – Anthony Gentene, Rowan Miller, Roman Gentene, Hunter Julia Mast, Jasey Conrad, Lyla Belle Miller, Everett Mast, Saylor Conrad, and Clara Miller. Elias is also survived by many other family members, treasured nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by all his siblings, which included five brothers – Allen Jr., Tom, Bruce, Uriah and Burns Harmon, and five sisters - Nona Caserta, Ethel Lehman, Antha Harmon, Emma Jo Bowen, and Tennie Vance.
Elias loved the Bible and studied it diligently. His faith was unshakable. He made a lasting impact on countless lives by sharing the Gospel any chance he got. He loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know where his joy was found. He answered the Lord's calling on his life by serving as a preacher and pastor; he was honored to be called to serve as pastor to the congregation of Mountain Assembly Church of God upon the death of their pastor and his dear brother, Tom. He lived out the Gospel daily. Without a doubt, he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, hearing "well done, my good and faithful servant".
The family would like to send sincere gratitude to Mike McCool, Gina McElroy and Juanlynda Scarbrough for their compassionate and loving hearts and assisting the family with his care. Special thanks to Capital City Hospice for their support in his final day.
Services will be held at O.R. Woodyard, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5-8pm and a Celebration of Life, officiated by Rev. Mark Hatfield, will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 10am. Burial will follow at Obetz Cemetery. Following the burial, all are invited to attend a luncheon at the church Elias attended, the Pentecostal Church of God, 1101 Obetz Rd., Columbus, Ohio.
