Luawanda West Obituary
Luawanda Bryant West, affectionately known as Wanda, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and light. Born to Vermella Massey Bryant and Lucious Bryant, Wanda embodied the grace, strength, and compassion they instilled in her. Both parents preceded her in death, along with her sister Melissa Massey and her brother Rodney Massey Sr.
She was a beautiful, kind-hearted soul whose smile could brighten any room and whose laughter lifted spirits. Wanda had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved. Her presence was a comfort, her words encouraging, and her heart always open. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend - steadfast in her faith and generous in her love.
Wanda is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Harold West. Their marriage was a beautiful blend of love, faith, and companionship. Wanda and Harold shared a bond rooted in trust, respect, and faith. Wanda and Harold were soulmates in every sense of the word. Together, they built a life woven with love, strengthened by prayer, and cherished in every season.
She is also survived by her siblings Ray Massey and Cora Bryant, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her and carry her memory forward with pride and affection. To them, she wasn't just Aunt Wanda, she was a second mother, a confidante, and a lifelong cheerleader. She walked with faithful friends. Mary Ann Jones, a sweet friend, was a source of light and love. Jeremy Gabis was a true friend - present, kind, and always ready to share a laugh or lend a hand.
A longtime member of Smyrna Baptist Church, Wanda found purpose in serving the Lord. Her faith shaped her life, and her compassion touched everyone she met. She dedicated over 22 years to Ohio State University, which is where she and Harold met. Her kind heart, warmth and diligence left a lasting positive impact on many colleagues and thousands of students living in the residence halls, where they were greeted daily by her big smile and a sincere desire for each to have a wonderful and blessed day.
Her life was a testament to love, laughter, and grace. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit continues to shine in every life she touched and in the heart of the man who loved her most.
