Robert E. West, Jr. “Pedro,” age 68, of New Philadelphia, passed away suddenly, doing the thing he enjoyed the most, helping people.

Born at Dover, on July 13, 1957, Pedro was a son of the late Robert and Italia (Fragasse) West. He was one of 12 children in the family. While growing up he learned his work ethic and larger than life sense of humor.

Pedro worked as a truck driver for many years. However, his joy in life was being around a fire at Whispering Falls Camp Ground in Warsaw, Ohio. He was known for his large laugh and being able to find a joke in everyday life. He was always out with a friend or enjoying a beverage of choice. When he was not camping, you could find him golfing with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Tomara (Spencer) Gee of Durham, NC, and Khala West of Dover; grandchildren, Drew, Zadie, Sophie, and Ari; companion, Cindi Uebel; four sisters; seven brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pedro was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Pedro’s wishes cremation care has been entrusted to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. No formal services are planned at this time. The family will hold a celebration of Pedro’s life at a later time.

Honoring all the past family members who have been cared for by hospice, memorial contributions in Pedro’s name may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
