Carol R. Geers, age 86, of Dover, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital after a period of declining health.
She was born in Dover on January 21, 1939, to the late Solomon E. and Bessie R. (Belknap) Schwartz.
Carol was a 1957 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. She began a 50-year career in banking. She retired as the manager of Ceramic Federal Credit Union. In her free-time she enjoyed camping and bowling. Carol and Pete also loved to travel and go to the casinos. She also loved attending her grandsons and granddaughters sporting events. Carol also loved spending time with her beloved cats. She was a member of the Dover Moose, Sandy Valley Eagles and New Philadelphia VFW.
On February 17, 1957 she married Charles “Pete” Geers. Together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage, before his passing in March of 2010.
Carol is survived by her children, Terry (Lori Spittle) Geers of New Philadelphia, and Michael Geers of Dover; grandsons, TJ (Britny Bigler) Geers, and Nathan (Alex) Geers; great-grandchildren, Kendall, Harper, and Tyson; brother, George (Barbara) Schwartz; sister-in-law, Shirley Ammons; brother-in-law, Jerry (Sue) Geers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Geff Geers; brothers-in-law, Junior Geers, John Geers, and Ray Ammons; and father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Betty Geers.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday September 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service honoring Carol’s life will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
Memorial donations in Carol’s name may be made to The Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
