T. David Price, 89, of Granville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. David was a proud fifth generation member of the Price family of the Welsh Hills. Born and raised among the rolling fields of the Price Fruit Farm on Price Road (Newark, Ohio), David carried forward his family’s deep ties to the land and community throughout his life.
A graduate of Granville High School (1954), David earned a degree in Agriculture at The Ohio State University (1958). That same year, he was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably as a Captain.
Following his military service, David pursued a career in banking, first with Bank of America in California, and later with Newark Trust Company in Ohio. He earned his law degree at Capital University (1970) and practiced law for more than a decade with Reese, Pyle, McNenny & Price. In 1981, he partnered at Price & Neel, where he practiced until his retirement in 1994.
David operated Bryn Tirion, his beloved 270-acre farm in Granville, Ohio, where he grew crops, raised cattle, rode horseback, and spent time with loved ones—hosting family gatherings and enjoying horse, buggy & tractor rides with friends and family.
He was deeply engaged in civic life, serving as President of the Pataskala Jaycees, President & Secretary of the Newark Chamber of Commerce, member of Newark Rotary Club, The Licking County Ohio & The American Bar Associations. He also served as the first President of the Avery Downer House and was on their Board of Directors for many years.
David’s greatest joy was his family. He shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Beth. Together, they raised two children, Sally Schaadt (Rob) and Hugh Price (Nancy). Known as “Papa Dave” to his grandchildren, he found endless happiness in his grandchildren: Brynn Schaadt, Christian Price, and Natalie Price. He is also survived by his treasured siblings, Jodie (Tom) Ramsay and Hugh (Kathy) Price, as well as his dear friend, Charlie Van Ness.
David will be remembered for his integrity, his service to community and country, and his devotion to family & friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Robbins Hunter Museum, Avery-Downer House 221 E Broadway, Granville, Ohio 43023 or Ohio’s Hospice 1320 W Main St, Newark, Ohio 43055.
