He graduated from Treutlen County High School in Soperton, GA and was a great football player during his high school years.
In 1974, he moved to Middletown, CT, and began working at Marion Manufacturing in Durham, American Craft in Middletown and finally Stop and Shop in Cromwell. Elijah was a member of Cross Street AME Zion Church in Middletown.
Elijah is survived by his four brothers, Woodrow and Glen Toler both of Soperton, Georgia, David Toler of Oak City, North Carolina, and Gary Toler of Dublin, Georgia; and a sister Mandy Jean Toler Jones of Soperton, Georgia and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Elijah was predeceased by a brother, Chuck Toler and a sister, Cynthia Toler Jackson.

I was deeply sad to hear about Elijah passing. We came from the same town Soperton Georgia. and I´ve known his family for many years. Elijah had a distinct laughter. The kind that filled a room and stayed with you. It came from a genuine place of joy and spirit. he was one of a kind, and his presence will truly be missed. My heart felt prayers and condolences go out to his entire family during this difficult time remembering Elijah with love,respect and gratitude, Irie, C Fordham and family.
