Elinor Sue Vaughn

Elinor Sue Vaughn, 81, of Seymour, passed away peacefully at Schneck Medical Center on August 3, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1943, to the late Charles McDonald and Vera Melton Martin. She married Steve Vaughn on June 28, 1965, in Seymour, and he preceded her in death in 2008.

Sue was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the altar guild, and Ladies Aid. She was also part of the Schneck Medical Center Guild, a former member of Beta Sigma Phi, and a Girl Scout leader. Sue loved clipping coupons, birdwatching, and was very particular about her yard. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Greg Vaughn; daughter, Stacy (William "Al") Vaughn Henthorne; grandchildren, Emily Dawn Steven (Paxton Henderson) VonFange and Zachary (Kayce) Vaughn; sister, Patricia Roark; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Vaughn and Karen Vaughn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Vaughn; parents, Charles McDonald and Vera Melton Martin; and sisters, Sara Otte and Janet Carr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 419 North Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana 47274, with Rev. Dr. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., both at the Burkholder Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Lutheran School, Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, or the Alzheimer's Association.
