Elinor Zeigler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mills Funeral Home - Boonville on Aug. 5, 2022.
Boonville - Elinor (Capron) Zeigler, 87, of Carol Ave, passed away on the morning of August 4, 2022 at Sunset Nursing Home after a long illness.
Elinor was born in Boonville on September 8, 1934 to Erlo and Susie (Clark) Capron, the youngest of their five children. She graduated from Boonville High School in 1952, and was then employed at General Telephone Corporation of Upstate New York. Elinor was united in marriage with Robert "Bob" Zeigler on February 27, 1954 at the First Methodist Church in Boonville. Once their children came along she became a stay-at-home mother, but continued to assist in bookkeeping for her husband's business, Zeigler Collision. After her children were in school she returned to the workforce at Lincoln National Bank, where she was employed until her retirement in the early 90's. Elinor possessed a remarkable ability with numbers in terms of allocation, budgeting and planning. After retirement she was able to spend more time with her grandchildren, as well as participate in her favorite activities, including painting, reading, doing puzzles and having coffee with friends.
Elinor was tremendously devoted to her family and hosted many a family picnic and get-together at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Alder Creek. She enjoyed cooking for these events. She was exceptional at organizing and planning, and was the consummate multi-tasker. She took time to make sure all her children learned to swim at an early age, bringing them down to the local beach multiple times per week. Through the years she enjoyed visiting her children, when grown, who at times lived in various parts of the country, including Alaska, California, Texas and Virginia. She also enjoyed a trip to Ireland and Scotland in the early 2000's. As she grew older, and travel became more limited, she enjoyed rides to Lowville and surrounding areas. Her only requirement was a stop for coffee (and maybe a pastry).
Elinor possessed a quiet strength, faith and dignity. She had no interest in accolades but instead prioritized the interests of her family, whose accomplishments meant so much more to her than anything on a personal level. She was proud to have raised three children to live productively in this world.
Elinor is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert; three children, Steven Zeigler, Chesapeake, VA, Scott Zeigler (Diane Gallo), Boonville, and Patricia (John) Brand, Alder Creek; five grandchildren, Cierra (Tim) Bauer, Tyler (Katelyn) Zeigler, Arcadea (Lyle) Scott, Brittany (Donald) Wisniewski and Ashley Brand; six great-grandchildren, Parker and Bridger Bauer, Austin, Lily Ann, and Adelea Scott and Adelaide Wisniewski; as well as many extended family members including Dar Jenkins. She was predeceased by her parents, Erlo and Susie Capron, and siblings Harry Capron, Bernice Hayes, Clinton Capron and Norman Capron.
In keeping with Elinor's wishes there will be no calling hours. Private funeral services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local animal shelter, as Elinor gave a home to many shelter and homeless pets over the years.
