Elisabeth Dirks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyons Funeral Home on Dec. 12, 2025.
Elisabeth J. "Libby" Dirks, 91, died Thursday morning, December 11, 2025, following a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of the late Leroy Dirks, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Boxford on July 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Harold "James" Gillis and Marion (Greene) Gillis-Newhall. She moved to Danvers in her childhood and was a 1952 graduate of Holten High School. A longtime Danvers resident, Libby was devoted to her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For several years, she worked at St. Mary of the Annunciation School as the computer teacher, where she was beloved by students and her fellow members of the faculty and staff. It was a role that brought her great joy.

She is survived by a son, Bruce Dirks, and his wife, Nancy, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; two grandsons, Andrew and James; and two great-granddaughters, Lillian and Audrey. She also leaves a sister, Ellen Lefavour of Danvers, and was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Mullins and Carol Tremblay.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm Street, Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Wadsworth Cemetery, Danvers. At Libby's request, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923.
