Elizabeth-Ann "Bette Buckley" Ladouceur, a beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful servant, was born into new life with Jesus Christ on June 14, 2024, at the age of 89, just two months shy of her 90th birthday. Born on August 20, 1934, Bette leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. She is survived by her seven children: Clifford, John, Tim, Thom, Kathleen, Michael, Mary Jo, and their spouses.
Bette's life was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, guiding her every step and bringing her immense comfort and joy. After retiring, she dedicated herself to attending daily mass, a commitment so steadfast that one of her grandsons affectionately called her car the "Church car."
Bette worked tirelessly for many years as a telephone operator for AT&T, often taking on the overnight shift. This allowed her to be home to send her children off to school, rest during the day, and be present for their after-school activities. She always ensured dinner was prepared and shared before heading off to work again. Her dedication to her family's well-being was unwavering, and she balanced her responsibilities with grace and love.
Bette consistently put the needs of others before her own, often acting preemptively out of love and care. She became a second mother to our friends in need, extending her compassion and support to anyone who required it. Bette welcomed our college friends, especially those whose families lived out of state, into our home for Thanksgiving, ensuring they felt part of our family. She was a gracious host, ready to offer accommodations when needed, and often hosted lunches for groups of friends in town for special events. Her home was a place of warmth and generosity, where no one left hungry. As fast as she would feed you, she would also hand you a vacuum cleaner, giving clear instructions on which rooms you were responsible for cleaning.
Bette had many passions that brought her joy. She treasured the time spent with friends, whether playing bridge, engaging in solitaire, or trying her luck at the casinos. However, her greatest joy came from her 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart. Each of them held a special place in her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Bette's warmth, kindness, and steady faith touched the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever be grateful for the love and joy she brought into their lives. Her friends often commented on her beautiful smile, which brightened the lives of all who had the responsibility of caring for her.
In keeping with her wishes, we kindly ask that no flowers be sent for her funeral. As she always said, "Flowers are for the living! Do not spend one dime on flowers for me when I pass. Rather, send flowers to someone you love and have not seen in a while." By honoring her request, we celebrate her loving spirit and the connections she valued so dearly.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your spirit and legacy of love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know you.
