Barber- Elizabeth "Lizzie" R. Barber, age 70, of Taylor, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville, FL. Lizzie was born in Bayreuth, Germany on August 22, 1955, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mctigue. She was raised in Germany, resided in Largo, Florida for a few years then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she met the love of her life, Bruce Allan Barber. The two were married on October 23, 1976, and blessed with 48 years of marriage. Lizzie had a deep and unwavering love for all animals. Over the years, she rescued and cared for a wide variety of creatures including prairie dogs, iguanas, snakes, gophers, turtles, tegus, and more. She was especially fond of Boston Terriers, raising them for many years, and leaves behind two sweet pups who were her constant companions. Her dedication to animal welfare extended beyond her home. Lizzie was instrumental in the work of Animal Control in both Duval County and Baker County. She volunteered for many years with Baker County Animal Control, where her passion and commitment left a lasting impact. Through her work there, she formed many close friendships, including a dear bond with Georgia Monfort. She also was the Administrator for the "Friends of Baker County Animal Control" Facebook page, assisting in bringing awareness of adopting animals in our community. In her free time, Lizzie loved going to car shows with Bruce and driving her 1969 Ford Falcon. She was a diehard Florida State football fan who thoroughly enjoyed watching them win. More than anything, Lizzie cherished her family and enjoyed spending precious time with them. Lizzie was preceded in death by her parents.

Lizzie is survived by her husband, Bruce Barber of Taylor, FL; two children, Teresa Annabell Barber of Savannah, GA and Bruce & Elizabeth Barber, II of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Charles Mctigue and David Mctigue, both of Clearwater, FL; sisters, Katherine Tew of Clearwater, FL and Teresa Quenel of Ashville, NC; grandson, Orion Barber; and several extended family members and friends.

Lizzies' family will receive friends for a gathering on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Ferreira Funeral Services Chaffee Chapel, 1320 Chaffee Road South, Jacksonville, FL 32221 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with a Graveside committal service to follow at 1:00 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
