Elizabeth (Betty) A. Freund, 92, formerly of Fond du Lac, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Villa Rosa Assisted Living with family by her side. She was born on July 8, 1932, in the Town of Marshfield, the daughter of Christian and Irene (Pickart) Haensgen. On November 25, 1950, Betty married Donald Freund in Mount Calvary. Betty was a member of Holy Family Parish and formerly at St. Patrick’s Church and was a den mother for Boy Scouts. Betty enjoyed Polka music, flower gardening, baking (especially her peanut squares and banana bread), pulling weeds, painting trim, but most importantly, spending time with her family at get-togethers.
She is survived by six children, Joan (Al Bucheger) Truog, Kenneth (Karen) Freund, Gary (Linda) Freund, Christine (Richard Schneider) Graf, Pamela Kleinschmidt, and Kevin (Melanie) Freund; 13 grandchildren, Mike Truog, Michelle (Craig) Jacak, Scott (Amy) Truog, Sean (Beth) Freund, Neil (Corine) Freund, Kari (Justin) Winke, Sarah Freund, Jason (Tamara) Freund, Ashley (Dani) Graf, Brekken Kleinschmidt, Jordan (Amanda) Freund, Kayla Freund, and Crystal (Luke) Pekrul; 30 great granchildren; two great great grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Rosie Ebertz and Jean (Joe) Schmitt; granddaughter-in-law, Veronica Freund; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Irene; husband, Donald; five grandchildren, Robert Freund, Tony Graf, Amy Freund, Matthew Freund, and Cassandra Freund; three siblings, Lois Schmitz, Harold Haensgen, and Robert Haensgen; two brothers-in-law, Tony Schmitz and Vince Ebertz; two son-in-laws, Dan Truog and Kevin Kleinschmidt; and daughter-in-law, Susette Freund.
This visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will occur in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
