Liz was my student in my class Self-discovery Through Creative Writing before she was married to Joe. We became close friends when she and Joe live in Evanston. After she moved to Shamberg, my husband and I always met with them at their house and our house. Liz and I always met at a restaurant on Golf Road between Wilmette and Shamberg even after my husband passed away and after Joe passed away. I would always send her books by Spanish and Mexican authors written in Spanish like Isabel Alliende. Her major was literature and Spanish. She was an exchange student in Barcelona and she adopted her daughter Sara from Guadamala. She spoke Spanish and English to Sara when Sara was growing up. She also loved playing the piano. She was kind, sensitive and loving person. I just dropped off some gifts (candles, scented soaps, books) for her at Solstice early June. We were going to meet at Bread and Butter in Palatine. She canceled because her mom passed away. I have been trying to call her but her mailbox was full. I called Soltice but they said to me that they will tell her that I called. They did not tell me that she passed away. So I had my friend who is a care manager go over to Soltice. Yesterday she told me. I just found out September 19. I am devastated. She has my book of poetry. I know that you are in a beautiful place with God, dear soul. Jerilyn Miripol 224-261-5378 1520 Washington Avenue, Wilmette 60091

Liz and I have been friends since the 8th grade. She sat directly behind me in Mrs. Bone's English class. We both loved Jane Austen. In high school we did some silly things together, like the time we ditched school and drove all the way to Elk Grove in hopes of catching a glimpse of a boy we liked (we did see him!). Sometimes we sang songs from movies like "The Wizard of Oz" and "Easter Parade." In recent years, during presidential debates, we watched "together," texting constantly and always rooting for our Democratic candidate. Same thing on election night, as the results came rolling in. I am so glad I got to see you last February, Liz, and I will have much more to say during our special memorial in August. You know how much I love you, my friend.

Liz and I met in kindergarten and went all the way through graduation at University of Illinois, together. We have been lifelong friends and I miss her dearly. Happy birthday today to you, Liz!! My birthday is tomorrow so Liz and I joked that we have always been sisters, 12 hours apart. She has been a loyal friend to everyone she has ever befriended, And that is so many people! She was always so sweet and a little naive, but if you brought up political issues, she would get her boxing gloves on, even in the school cafeteria during election years! She has had her share of struggles, especially over the last 4 years, but she always kept a positive attitude! I am so thankful for all of her friends that have helped her through these years, and I am also thankful that she quietly passed away in her sleep. Liz, until I see you again, I'll be thinking of you.
