Elizabeth Conboy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2014.
ELIZABETH 'BETTY' CONBOY, 91 ROCKFORD - Our beloved mother, Elizabeth 'Betty' Conboy, 91, of Rockford, was peacefully called home at Wesley Willows on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. She was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Rockford, the daughter of Thomas and Violet Hafey. Betty married Mark C. Conboy, the love of her life for 60 yrs., on Aug. 14, 1948, in Rockford. They raised their family together while working to provide absolutely the best they could for their children. Betty worked in the medical field all of her life. She spent 32 years at Rockford Surgical Service and became office manager for numerous surgeons and more than thirty employees (her other 'family'). She prided herself in keeping her home pristine, taking the family on yearly summer vacations, holidays and family gatherings as her family grew, and always being on time. Her other interests included bridge, sewing, baking, rosary-making, reading, and traveling the U.S. and Europe with Mark. Being a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the past 44 yrs. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, she held her deep faith close to her heart and soul. We extend our deepest thanks to the entire staff at Wesley Willows for the loving care they showed her every day. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Mark in 2008. She is survived by her sister, Kathryn French; sons, Thomas Conboy, Jim (Cindy) Conboy; daughter, Mary (Ritchie) Duggan; grandchildren, Courtney and Kelsey Conboy, Thomas Hollister, Christopher Conboy, Teresa Conboy (Jerob) Leaper, Jessica (David) Yungen; and 9 great-grandchildren, (Dylan, Jaxon, Cailin, Amelia, Ellie, Kaiden, Camryn, Carson, Cash, and baby-to-be Colton); numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved friends. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with a visitation from 9 a.m. until time of mass. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church). Arrangements made by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103.
