Elizabeth Jean (Nobles) Dadey

January 24, 1936 – October 5, 2025

Elizabeth Jean (Nobles) Dadey also fondly known as Betty and BJ, 89, passed away on Sunday morning, October 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.

Betty Jean Nobles was born in Lakewood, New Jersey, in 1936 to Irving Gordon Nobles and Elizabeth Nash Nobles. She graduated from Toms River High School then earned her Registered Nursing degree from Philadelphia General Hospital.

She met the love of her life, Patrick James Dadey in Chicago at the bus station while he was en route to Lakehurst, New Jersey as a new Navy recruit. They married on August 23, 1959 in Toms River, NJ. In 1963, the Jersey girl moved to the Lebanon area to be closer to the Dadey family where she has lived for the past 60 years.

Betty dedicated more than 35 years to a career in nursing, working both as a Nurse and Nursing Supervisor at Lebanon Community Hospital. When asked about her life's purpose, she would simply say, "to be a nurse". She was a beloved supervisor with a special passion for disaster preparedness. Her presence at the hospital was legendary, and her name and legacy continue to be well known in the local medical community.

She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul, Catholic Daughters, PTA, and Small Woodlands.

In retirement, Betty continued to serve her community, volunteering weekly at the St. Vincent DePaul House. She co-chaired the church's semi-annual rummage sale. She was also the driving force behind the St Vincent DePaul's School Shoe and Christmas Toy Giveaway Programs.

Betty loved to spend time with her family, playing games, crafting, gardening, reading, and traveling. She was the Canasta master; wanting each player to have a turn at winning but making them work hard to earn it.

She is survived by her children Mike Dadey (Mechele) and Rebecca Cook (Troy) of Lebanon; Patty Modey (Bill) of Burns; Joyce Sjoberg of Portland; Nancy Dadey of Minnesota; and Joan Hoff (Mike) of Washington; nine grandchildren Goel (Tracey) and Graham Boucher; Andrew and Grant Hoff; Justin (Wren) Atterberry; Marie Dadey; Bethany Cook; Ceara Wirick (Danny); and Melanie Sjoberg; as well as six great-grandchildren Jackson; Lilith; Jett; Jayden; Charlie; and Taigen. She also leaves behind her brother Jim Nobles (Lorraine) of Michigan; sister's Stephanie Houghkirk and Ann Nobles of New Jersey; separated by geography, but not by heart. She also loved all her siblings children, grand children, and great grand children. She cherished so many more who called her their Aunt Betty or referred to her as their mom or grandma. She considered the Dadey Clan her own.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; husband; brother Joseph Nobles; sister's Beatrice Weikel and Ann Payne.

A celebration of Betty's life will begin with a Holy Rosary recited at 10:30 am November 21, 2025, at St. Edwards Catholic Church followed by a Mass. A luncheon will be provided in the church hall, with a burial afterward at Sandridge Cemetery.

Donations may be made in her name to St. Edwards St. Vincent DePaul, 100 S. Main, Lebanon, Oregon 97355.

Cards can be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 815, Lebanon, Oregon 97355.

The best supervisor ever!
She was nervous about the L/D ward, where I worked, but she helped all the wards as needed.
A "super" person and nurse.
