Elizabeth "Sister Babe" Jackson Davis peacefully transitioned into eternal rest with our heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 7th. She was the widow of A.B. Davis and was born December 6, 1933, to the late Ernest Lay Jackson and Lucinda Thomas Ellis in Abbeville County, South Carolina.
Mother Davis received Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where she sang in the Gospel and Senior Choirs and served on the Deaconess and Missionary Boards until her health declined. She was the oldest active member until her transition.
For many years, she was the "go-to" babysitter in the community. She joyfully and lovingly cared for the children of many working parents. Her home was one of the community's gathering spots for kids and teens to play basketball in the backyard or build sandcastles in the front yard.
She was preceded in death by children: Walter Jerry, Annie Ruth, and Betty Jean Davis; grandchildren, Keisha Danielle Frazier and Michael Jerrell Davis;siblings: James Thomas, Bryson Jackson, Marion, Benny, Billy Ray, J.D., and Jimmy Ellis.
Her memory will be cherished by her five children, Leola (Freeman) Frazier, of Honea Path; Dennis (Dorothy) Robinson, Michael Davis, both of Anderson; Paul (Angela) Davis, and Larry Davis, both of Honea Path; grandchildren, D. James and Kameco Robinson, Kelkictric Tate, Carlotta and Lauren Frazier, Pauleisha and Joshua Davis; great-grandchildren, Austin, Prodigy, Eshante, Za' terrius, Ja'Niylah, Dallas, RA'Egypt, and Brooke.
Siblings, Marie Jobe and Johnny Ellis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 12th at New Friendship Baptist Church, Honea Path at 2:00 PM, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be Saturday from 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Holloway's Funeral Home is in charge of the Davis service.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Leola Davis Frazier, 1039 Meaders Lane, Honea Path.
