Mrs. Elizabeth Myrtle Ellis DiRusso, of Spotsylvania County, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026. Elizabeth died after a ten year battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.

Elizabeth married Eugene DiRusso in 1956 while he was in the military. They made their home on Long Island, NY, where they raised their three children. In 1976 they moved to Fredericksburg, VA. where they invested in building an RV Campground, known as the Fredericksburg KOA.

Elizabeth and Eugene shared their love for 69 years! He was devoted to her in every way in her final years. He cared for her at home with patience and tenderness, standing by her side every day. Their love was an example to everyone who knew them.

Liz was a loving mother to her children, Patricia DiRusso O'Brien, Thomas DiRusso (Rebecca), and Susan DiRusso Hart (Ronald). Other survivors are their grandchildren, James and Anthony Hart(Laura), Thomas Gargano (Katlien), Elizabeth O'Brien, Caroline DiRusso, Ronald DiRusso (Megan), and Michael DiRusso (Marley). Liz's great grandchildren Addison and Emily Hart, Mia and Christian Gargano, brought her so much joy!

Elizabeth was a woman of creativity and quiet grace. She wrote children's stories and poetry, capturing imagination and warmth with her words. Liz and Gene worked together every day for 25 years to build their business into an award winning enterprise.

Liz also found happiness in gardening, music, and travelling with friends and family. She was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church where she found community and joy, especially as a member of the Alter Guild.

Above all, Elizabeth's greatest love was her husband and family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, creativity, faith and the love she gave so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
