Elizabeth Eastburn Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 14, 2025.
On Monday, November 10, 2025, Elizabeth "Libbie" Cochran Eastburn passed away peacefully at her home in Bethany Beach, DE. Her beloved husband, grandson, Henry, and stepdaughter, Wendy, were beside her.

Libbie was born in June 1953 to Francis & Mary Jane Cochran in Jarrettsville, MD. She was the 4th of eight children. Their home, always busy and loving, provided a solid foundation for Libbie to become a genuinely wonderful and loyal sister, wife, friend and grandmother. Her childhood gave her a passion for games and social gatherings.

After graduating from North Hartford High School, Libbie took a job at Bell Atlantic / Verizon. She spent the next 30 years building her career from clerk to management. Libbie earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues. In fact, she maintained friendships with several colleagues for the remainder of her life.

At 22, Libbie met the love of her life, Warren, in Bel Air, MD. They were married in December of 1976, where she gained two step-children. The love story between Libbie and Warren goes beyond the fairy tale. Their love transcended all of life's turns, challenges and joys. Aside from being husband and wife, they were best friends and truly life partners. Life began and ended with each other's presence. All who knew this relationship were in awe.

She lived with her Delaware-born husband for 30 years in MD before moving to Delaware in 2004 to be closer to her grandchildren. In 2013, they moved to the beach in Delaware. As the winters became colder, Libbie enjoyed trips to Florida. After a few years as visitors, they decided the "snowbird" life was the way to live. They purchased a condo in Punta Gorda where she could be with other snowbird friends, including several she knew from up north.

Libbie loved the sound of the ocean, even if she was not fond of being in the sun. Over the years, they lived in several homes, including one on the Wall Cove on the water in Maryland and two near Bethany Beach, Delaware. In 2017, they built the house of Libbie's dreams by the ocean.

Regardless of where they lived, Libbie loved being social making friends in any situation or environment. She held parties at her homes and organized girls' weekends. She enjoyed Wednesday dinner nights with friends, events with the MD Yacht Club, boating with Warren and friends, reading, traveling to Florida, challenging game nights, and having dinner and drinks with friends. One of her favorite activities was picking and eating crabs with friends.

In 2001, Libbie's family grew with the birth of her 1st grandson. She found new purpose and fulfillment being "Grandmom" to her four grandsons. In the following years, she welcomed three more grandsons. These boys cuddled, wrestled, challenged and loved her beyond measure. She enjoyed spending her time with them as much as they loved her.

Able to retire at a young age, Libbie enjoyed the fruits of her labor at her home with Warren, with her grandsons, with her girlfriends, and with her abundant family of whom she was very proud and very close. Libbie preserved childhood friendships throughout her life. She valued her time to be with family and friends. From childhood friends to someone newly met, Libbie left an impression of friendship, mentorship, kindness and caring.

Libbie is survived by her loving husband, Warren Eastburn. Her brothers, Thomas Cochran (Kathy), Chris Cochran (Amy), David Cochran, and Jeff Cochran (Prem Kumari). Her sisters, Rebecca Hedges (Fred) and Margaret Jordan (Wayne). Her stepchildren, Thomas Eastburn (Kris) and Wendy Eastburn-Teal. Her grandchildren, Henry Witman, Jackson Dinger and Caleb Dinger. Lori Stanton and Dennis Dinger, parents of Jackson & Caleb. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Jane (Lanahan) and her grandson, Nolan Witman.

Libbie was a 20+ year breast cancer survivor. Upon the cancer's return, Libbie faced the challenge alongside her husband and had a graceful passing.

There will be a celebration of life scheduled for spring of 2026.
