Elizabeth D. Finken, age 91, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Sauk Centre died peacefully Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. May 12, 2006 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church in Sauk Centre. Elizabeth Finken was born October 28, 1914 in Owatonna, Minnesota to Peter and Mary (Wanous) Dusek. She married Elmer M. Kind, who later died in a car accident on February 23, 1932. She married Peter J. Finken on October 26, 1937 at Our Lady of the Angel's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. She was employed by Swift & Co. for many years and later worked for the Sauk Centre Elementary School as a cook. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening especially her flowers. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Survivors include her son, Elmer Finken (Leona) of Montgomery, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Steven Heimerl, Christine Grupa, Carol Peterfeso, Theresa, Mary and Daniel Finken; and 9 great-grandchildren, Brittany Heimerl, Mark and Joe Grupa, Andrea, Ryan and Nate Peterfeso, Steven Stolt, and Peter and Joe Finken. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Elmer Kind on February 23, 1932 and Peter Finken on September 17, 1995; daughter, Dorothy Heimerl; brothers and sisters, Adolph, Daniel, Jerome and Albert Dusek, Mary Merten, Rose Odegard and Elizabeth Finken. Casket bearers will be; Theresa, Mary and Daniel Finken, Steven Heimerl, Christine Grupa, and Carol Peterfeso. Memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Home, Belle Plaine, Minnesota.
