Elizabeth Fleming

Elizabeth Fleming, affectionately known as "Liz" was born on July 27th, 1945, in Elberton, Ga to the late Rosa Ann Perrin and Willie F. Barksdale Sr. Liz was the oldest of nine children and preceded in death by Essie Williams, Theresa Perrin, Cleo McIntosh and Willie F. Barksdale Jr. aka "Pete". Liz lovingly spent her childhood in Elberton and attended Blackwell Memorial School, graduating in the Class of 1964. Upon graduation, Liz made the move to Queens, New York where she began her work with the New York Board of Education until her retirement in 2014.
Liz enjoyed life to the fullest by engaging in activities such as going to the casino and traveling w/family and friends. In addition, Liz cherished her membership at First Baptist Church which became her second family. Liz was a true woman of God who loved to worship and praise whenever she found time. She stood firm on the promises of the Lord and was an intercessor for prayer to those who needed it. Liz was extremely devoted to her family and friends always leading with love and discipline. To her credit, Liz was also an adoptive mother to many, therefore pouring love, wisdom, and knowledge to everyone she encountered. Liz was a true testament and example of how to use your God given gifts and talents to be faithful steward of the Lord.
Liz departed this life on Saturday, July 30th, 2022, at Long Island Jewish Hospital where she battled cancer for several years. Liz leaves to cherish her memories are two brothers, John Edward Perrin Jr. (sister-in-law Frances Perrin) of Martinez, Georgia and Horace Eugene Perrin of Hephzibah, Georgia, three sisters Minnie Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Paula Jackson (brother-in-law Bernard Jackson) Twenty-nine, Palm California and Rose Clark of Cleveland, Ohio, two aunts Christine Thompson and Mildred Drake of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephew's cousins and other loved ones.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church located at 1596 Broad Street Tignall, Georgia.
