Elizabeth Ann Gomez (Liz) 73 of Bloomfield, NM passed away July 13, 2024.
Liz was born to Gene and Lupita Gomez at Mercy Hospital in Durango, CO on September 8, 1950.
She graduated from Dulce High School in 1968 then went on to receive her Bachelors in Sociology & Political Science at Eastern NM University in 1972. Then her Master of Social Work At San Francisco State University in 1981.
Liz worked as a Social Worker from 1981 until 2007 and loved it very much. But she never stopped helping people. One of Lizs favorite things to do was house calls as a volunteer on the reservation in her friends hummer. She never stopped being a Social Worker. She continued volunteering for many years at the public library and was on the Bloomfield Library Board up until her passing.
In Lizs younger years she was engaged to Benjamin who was the love of her life. Tragically his life was taken too soon in a car accident. Liz loved her family. She was always positive and encouraging. She loved to brag about everyones accomplishments and was always lending a hand to others whether it was giving food, money, trinkets, flowers or advice she had a giving soul. Although she didnt have much, she was more than generous.
She loved the stray cats and would always feed them, especially "Tuxedo Cat" that became her daily visitor. She loved all her family members dogs (her fur babies as she would call them) and would bring them treats and toys and they all loved her dearly. She also loved colorful flowers and watching the birds from the window and enjoying watermelon snow cones.
Liz is survived by her sisters Dorothy Gomez and Darlene Gomez. Her Nephews Chris Valverde, Eugene Mitchell Gomez and Jovanni Justyce Barraza-Gomez. Her Niece Heather Gomez, her great nephews Alexander Valverde, Ayden Valverde, and Peyton Duncan. Her great niece Coral Duncan and her great grandniece Gianna Gene Gomez and many other family members. Also, her very good friend of 47 years Deona Parfet.
Liz is preceded in death by her father Gene Gomez, her Mother Lupita Gomez, her brother Eugene Gomez and her fianc Benjamin.
