Elizabeth Ann Leonard Poelvoorde Grobstein

Elizabeth Ann Leonard Poelvoorde Grobstein was born on September 20, 1930 in Rockford, IL to Richard and Ethel Leonard and died in Rock Island on February 22. She married Amos Poelvoorde Jr. (d. 1975) in 1947 and gave birth to Richard, Patricia (husband, Jeffrey Gripp), Jeffrey and Rebecca (Sharpe). She married Samuel Grobstein (father of Tony (Otis Marechaux), Janet (Michael Cantrell), Amy (Deb) and Beth (Lyle Dettman) in 1990; both were and are active and dedicated members of the Tri-City Jewish Center; both were employed for many years at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Elizabeth was an avid and accomplished cook and a life-long learner and earned her double Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Business from St. Ambrose University in 1985.
Besides her beloved Tuffy, Elizabeth lived for her children and her grandchildren (Kim (David Reisner), Patrick, Heather Fry, Natalie Tiemeier (deceased), Andrew, Rachel (Howard Trickie), Brian , Benjamin (Amanda), Katherine (Robert Kargl) and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Isabelle, Jack, Matthew, Olivia, Judah, Sophie Elizabeth, Michael, Natalie Elizabeth, Austin, Sara, Lauren Elizabeth. Elijah, Camille, Benjamin, Devyn and Abram.
Graveside services will be 11 am, Wednesday at Hebrew Cemetery, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family. Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
