Elizabeth Hernandez Obituary

Published by Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services on Jul. 14, 2020.
Elizabeth M Hernandez, beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Liz, the daughter of the late Ralph and Esther Hernandez, was born on October 9, 1960. Liz spent her childhood growing up in Duarte, CA before moving to La Verne in 1973. Liz graduated from Bonita High school in 1978. After high school, Liz worked for a pharmaceutical company where she met her best friend Margaret. When Liz had enough of the pill place, she left to start her career with the U.S. Post Office. For 20 plus years, Liz was a letter carrier in the cities of San Marino, South Pasadena and Sierra Madre. Liz enjoyed working for the residents of Sierra Madre. Anyone who knew Liz, knew she was a big hearted person. Liz was always there to lend a helping hand, even if she didn't know you. Liz enjoyed playing BINGO! (Thanks to Mom and cousin Linda). She also loved taking trips to Vegas and being the chauffeur for Mom and Sylvia as well as going to San Manuel for her birthday free play. Liz had a great passion for photography. Every party or special occasion Liz was always there to capture the moment, if you happened to be eating she didn't care, she would still snap your picture. Speaking of eating, Liz prided herself on keeping our family tradition going by making tamales at Christmas time and menudo on New Year's. Let's not forget the famous macaroni salad that she made for every celebration. The one thing that she enjoyed with every beat of her heart was being "Tia". Tia Liz really enjoyed putting a smile on the faces of her nieces and nephews. But when the great nieces and nephews started coming into the world, Tia Liz's glow was even brighter. Tia always had the healing touch, she was the "go to" person when life got challenging, she would teach life lessons and share her knowledge of life. Her words, her love, her care always made everything better and the entire family knew it. Tia Liz is survived by her sister Trish Hernandez, brother Ralph L Hernandez (Nicole), three nephews, four nieces, thirteen great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Liz was truly a one of a kind person with a huge caring heart. Liz, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten. "You already know.....We Love you!" Arrangements are under the direction of Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, California.

Liz, just want to say thank you for opening your home to me and allowing me to be part of your beautiful family for so many years. For looking out for me when I got in my accident. Always making sure I was ok if I needed anything. Also looking out for me those many nights Me and Ralphie would have alittle to much to drink and we would stumble into the house at 3 in the morning and you would always take care of us. There is so many things that will be truly missed. Your smile, your cooking, your warmth and your kindness amongs many other things. As I write this with so much emotion and hurt I also find peace in knowing you are now also in peace. No more pain of any kind. Just peace and happiness in your new paradise. If we can all be so lucky to join you one day. And until that day Liz , we will think about you and sharis your memory every single day. Not with sadness but with joy. The same joy that you brought to so many people in this world. I love you so much Liz . Thank you again for everything. Until that day....

I’m going to miss your smile. Your kind, caring generous soul. Always putting others first. Making sure everyone has eaten or they have a seat to sit on. I am most thankful that you were my one and only Tia. So blessed to have been apart of so many family traditions. It made me smile seeing you at the parties taking all the photos, being the one looking from the outside in of all the smiles and laughter with the family together. Thank you for taking me in as one of your nieces (not that you had a choice since I never left-lol!) and always being so kind. I Love you Tia. May you forever be our angel.

To the Hernandez Family-
Aunt Liz has always and will always keep a special place in my heart. She use to love to pick up my brother Charles and I to go spend the day doing something fun. Her and my mom were best friends growing up and She always treated us as her family. Liz was so kind, genuine and loving to everyone. I will never forget her smile. Over the years she never changed in my eyes. We love you Aunt Liz and you have made a positive impact on my life. I’m grateful for you! Rest well Tia!
