Morton- Elizabeth A. Hirstein, age 73, of Morton, passed away at 7:33 AM on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at her home.
Born January 30, 1949 in Peoria, IL a daughter to Robert and Lydia (Schad) Ellwood. On July 8, 1972 she married Dean Hirstein at St. Mark Catholic Church, her one true love, and once he passed she chose to stay independent until she was able to reunite with him in the afterlife. Elizabeth worked in several administrative roles during her career, most recently with the County of Peoria. She loved taking longs walks, laughing, and spending time with her friends and traveling out west to see her children. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, which earned her the name "Gogo". She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister whose calm spirit will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three children: Megan (Jason) Nestrud of Morton, Kelly (Matthew Hunsinger) Hirstein of Beaverton, Oregon and Adam (Jillian) Hirstein of Spokane, Washington; five grandchildren: Ellie, Max, Sophie, Reese, and Monroe; one brother Steve (Marilyn) Ellwood of Wilsonville, Oregon and one sister-in-law Jane Ellwood of Peoria.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean and one brother Stan Ellwood.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary.
