Elizabeth M. Johnson
Elizabeth M. Johnson RN, 97, of Overlook (Shamokin) passed away Thursday May 29th at The Manor at Penn Village.
She was born in Harrisburg on September 17, 1927 and was the daughter of Elizabeth (Schaffhauser) and Frank J. Marter.
Elizabeth graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1944 and from Lancaster School of Nursing. She started her career in the military as a nurse in the US Nurse Cadet Corps.
She spent many years as a registered nurse in the operating room and later worked for Dr. Robert L. Harding MD, Chief of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Elizabeth was married to Joseph F. Ferrari for 25 years and H. Gene Johnson for 25 years both are deceased.
She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Queen of Most Holy Rosary in Elysburg.
Elizabeth enjoyed horseback riding and playing bridge. She was a member of Harrisburg Bridge Club and Elysburg Bridge Club.
Elizabeth had five older brothers and 2 sisters who preceded her in death.
She is survived by; daughter Elizabeth Graboski, Overlook (Shamokin); daughter Lisa Ritchie (Tom), AZ; grandson Lake Graboski (Elisabeth), Phillipsburg PA; grandson Kale Graboski (Elizabeth Racheal), Danville; granddaughter Vivian Ritchie (Michael), NY; great grandsons Dion & Nils; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday June 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Queen of Most Holy Rosary Church, 599 W. Center St, Elysburg PA 17824. Interment will follow mass at All Saints Cemetery in Elysburg.
