Elizabeth Kaczur, born on May 8, 1931, in Hungary, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at the age of 94. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who lived a full and vibrant life.
In 1956, during the Hungarian uprising, Elizabeth displayed remarkable courage as she and her husband Frank escaped to the United States. They initially settled in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where Elizabeth began her journey of building a family and perfecting her skills in making custom window treatments.
In 1960, Elizabeth and Frank moved to Philadelphia, immersing themselves in the community and becoming active members of the Hungarian club. They were instrumental in founding the Magyar Tanya, a Pennsylvania based Hungarian Club, a testament to their dedication to preserving and sharing their rich cultural heritage.
Elizabeth was a woman of many talents and passions. In her younger years in Hungary, she was a trained Opera Singer. She then successfully ran a business crafting custom draperies until the admirable age of 85. Her love for gardening was evident in the bountiful vegetables she grew and the beautiful flowers she planted. Her home was filled with the warmth of her baking, and her chicken paprika became a legendary dish at family gatherings.
An enthusiast of the arts, Elizabeth enjoyed attending theatre performances and held season tickets in Center City Philadelphia for many years, savoring each show with enthusiasm and joy. Her love extended beyond her family and friends to her cherished Samoyeds, Rex, Sam, and Samantha, who brought her immense happiness.
Elizabeth's legacy will continue through her loving family: daughters Melinda Madison and her husband Richard, and Elizabeth Kauermann and her husband Paul; and her grandchildren Michelle Madison and her husband Eric Breese, Christa Madison, Kevin Kauermann, and Corinne Kauermann.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Elizabeth on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM in Addisville Church, 945 Second Street Pike, Richboro, PA 18954. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Her interment will be private at Union Cemetery, Richboro, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Pickering Manor at the website listed below.
Elizabeth's warmth, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave to others throughout her life.
