Elizabeth Mayfield McEntyre

Elizabeth Mayfield McEntyre, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio on February 17, 2026. Betsy, as most people referenced her was a mother, grandmother, and friend whose quiet nature and spirit shaped the course of her life.

In her early years, Betsy embraced a life of travel and exploration. She collected stories, experiences, and perspectives that broadened her world and stayed with her throughout her life. Those adventures remained some of her favorite stories to share with others.

Betsy eventually made her home in Cleveland, Tennessee, where she built a life rooted in her community.

In Cleveland, she married the love of her life, John Culbreth McEntyre, with whom she shared many devoted years until his passing in 2012. Their partnership brought her stability, companionship, and a sense of belonging she held close to her heart.

Betsy loved spending time at Parksville Lake and Stoney Point cabin a place her grandson, Jakob says is a “place that smells like happy” and she poured her energy into the things that mattered most to her. She leaves behind two sisters, Katie and Maryl and also endured the loss of her brother, Charlie Mayfield, who passed away early in life. Betsy’s parents, Mary Ellen Freeman Mayfield and Charles Stanwix Mayfield Jr. also preceded her in death. Through her challenges, she continued to show intention in the way she moved through the world.

She tried earnestly to be a steady presence for Dawn McEntyre Puster and Charles McEntyre, offering what she could to guide them through life’s challenges. Her efforts, even when imperfect, came from a place of wanting to provide love, structure, and support.

Betsy is survived by her family to include: Dawn and Jeff Puster, their children - Reilly, Jakob and Kai Puster; Charles McEntyre and his children Stax McEntyre and Huck McEntyre. They all carry forward the lessons, memories, and stories from Papa John and Mama Bets that shaped their lives. Her family will always be grateful for their love over the years.

A celebration of her life will be held in Cleveland, Tennessee, with details to be announced by the family soon. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life she lived.
