Elizabeth O'Shaughnessey Obituary

Elizabeth L. "Betty" O'Shaughnessey, 95, of Monroeville, passed away September 11, 2025, in Monroeville, Indiana.

She was born on November 21, 1929 in New Bavaria, Ohio to Raymond A. and Cora E. (Thome) Peck. Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth O'Shaughnessey on September 17, 1949.

Surviving are her children, Paul (Cynthia) O'Shaughnessey of New Haven, Indiana; Karen (David) Schulenburg of Powhatan, Virginia; Patricia (Ron) Castleman of Monroeville, Indiana; Leon (Janilyn) O'Shaughnessey of Monroeville, Indiana; Jane (Gary) Benschneider of Payne, Ohio; Thomas (Marci) O'Shaughnessey of Monroeville, Indiana; Donna (Kirk) Hazelett of Roanoke, Indiana; Joseph (Jeanine) O'Shaughnessey of Monroeville, Indiana; Laura (Matthew) Lancia of Leo, Indiana; and Stephen (Catrina) O'Shaughnessey of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a grandson and granddaughter, six brothers, and three sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2025, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville, with Fr. Dennis DiBenedetto and Bishop Joel Konzen S.M. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3–8 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, and again from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Masses and Special Olympics Allen County.
