Elizabeth Onufrock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northshore Funeral Services - Shorewood on Jan. 13, 2026.
Elizabeth "Betty" Onufrock passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at the age of 82.

After getting her masters degree in library science at the University of Kentucky and meeting her future husband Jack, she moved to Shorewood more than 50 years ago. She worked at the Wisconsin Library for the Blind before taking time to raise her children and then going back to school to get a second degree in speech language pathology. She then worked at North Park Elementary School in the Racine Unified School District for 24 years.

An avid gardener, she planted countless bulbs and plants both at home and her school nature center to beautify the outdoors.

She loved to go for drives in rural Wisconsin to see nature and hoped to get lost so she could see more of it.

When she was not reading about the news or political blogs, she was reading a variety of books, many of which were obtained from the Shorewood Library, where she donated more than $80,000.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Harry "Jack" Onufrock as well as her parents Reggie and Eleanor, her sister Barb, and brother-in-law Dick. She is survived by her children Jennifer Onufrock and Jonathan (Barbara) Onufrock; granddaughters Madelyn, Olivia, and Cailyn Onufrock; sister-in-law Christine Reppucci; nieces Anna Chapman and Kristen Knight; and nephews Nicholas and Jonathan Reppucci.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 20, from 10:00 to 1:00 PM at Northshore Funeral Services. Interment will be later in the day at 2:00 at Forest Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Betty's memory to Life Navigators in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, to support those with disabilities.

Jon, Jennifer, and the rest of Betty's family,
Sending love your way in this difficult time. Betty was always so sweet us. She treated us just like family. Betty was a warm woman who made others feel welcome. Take comfort in knowing she is with Jack again. May she rest in paradise. All the love and hugs.
