Jane Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northshore Funeral Services - Shorewood on Mar. 20, 2026.
Jane Baker (Valora Jane LaMar) passed away Sunday March 8th, 2026, at her home. She was the

last surviving child of Ferdinand and Mary LaMar. She was preceded in death by her nine

siblings. Loren, Victor, Irving, Trusten, Almarene, Wallace, Bud, Hallack and Ada.

She has five surviving children. Dean La Mar Baker, Dale Holt Baker, (William) Vance Baker,

Pamela Jane Baker, and Amy MarOna Skaggs.

She is survived by 4 grandchildren: Jason Baker, Kristen Baker, Jessica Norton and Naomi

Grunsted, and 6 great grandchildren, Colin Baker, Julia Baker, Fynn Norton, Cecile Baker, Kohlson

Baker and Miles Grunsted.

Although she left her home in Indiana for Milwaukee Wisconsin after marrying William Baker,

she was an Indiana farm girl at heart. She carried the strong independent sense of self she

developed being part of the large loving family she grew up in, throughout her life. She missed

her family always and looked forward to her annual visit, a staple throughout her life.

Aside from being a devoted mother and raising her family, she was a championship golfer and

was club champion at Westmoor Country Club in 1970, 1972, 1974 and 1979. After moving to

Cave Creek Arizona, she was club champion at Desert Forest Golf club in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

She also won the first flight of the Woman's Amateur Golf Championship in 2002 at the age of

77.

She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge with her husband William Baker and was a Life Master.

She celebrated her 100th birthday October 12, 2025, at Westmoor Country Club where she had

been a member for 75 years, surrounded by family and friends.

Jane was an icon, a matriarch and will be greatly missed.
