Elizabeth "Bettie" Panos, age 85, of Bel Air, MD passed away on October 28, 2013 at her home. Born in Glen Cove, NY she was the daughter of the late Victor Harold and Mary Cameron Gray Barrow and the wife of the late Augustus "Gus" Panos. She grew up on a horse farm in Monkton and loved horses and all animals. She had worked for the FBI as a mailroom clerk at the age of 16. She also worked for Black and Decker and played on their softball team. She later worked as a proofreader for The Aegis Newspaper for 18 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a volunteer for Bel Air Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and bowled in leagues at Bel Air Bowl. No one was a stranger to Bettie as she enjoyed talking with everyone. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting them and watching them play sports. Mrs. Panos is survived by her son, Peter A. Panos and his wife, Patricia of Bel Air, MD; daughters, Victoria C. Panos of Bel Air, Mary P. Strickland and husband, James of Goldvein, VA and Liz Tolliver and husband, Mike of Bel Air; sisters, Irene Mink of Forest Hill and Marjorie Hannahs of Bel Air; grandchildren, Albert C., Tammy L. and Todd A. Hartman, Elizabeth A. Smith, Teresa M. York, James D. Strickland II, Christopher M. and Scott A. Tolliver; and great grandchildren, Ryan A. Nelson, Matthew A. and Alexander Hartman. Pallbearers will be Christopher and Scott Tolliver, James Strickland, Ryan A. Nelson, Albert C. Hartman Jr., Todd A. Hartman, Tyler York and Dan Smith. Those who desire may make a contribution to First Presbyterian Church, 224 N. Main Street, Bel Air, MD 21014 or Citizens Care Center, 415 S. Market Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
