Obituary of Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Sacco

Elizabeth Ann "Libby" (Blake) Sacco, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22nd, with her family by her side.

Born in Dorchester, Libby was the cherished daughter of Irish immigrants, John and Anna (McDonough) Blake. Raised in a home filled with love and tradition, she carried with her the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family throughout her long and fulfilling life.

It was through a chance meeting after a holiday gathering that Libby first crossed paths with the love of her life, Edward Sacco. Following a Christmas party, she accepted a ride home from Ed, who had come to pick up his sister. That simple act of kindness blossomed into a love story that spanned nearly seven decades. Libby and Ed were married for 67 years, building a life together centered on love, loyalty, and family.

Libby dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her role as wife, mother, and grandmother. She took immense pride in creating a warm and welcoming home for Ed and their five children. Never one to seek attention, Libby was happiest in the background, caring for those she loved and delighting in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed the quiet comfort of a good mystery novel, the ritual of a hot cup of tea, and the secret joy of a well-hidden stash of sweets.

Her devotion to family was unwavering. Libby's happiest times were those spent surrounded by her children and grandchildren, whether during family gatherings at home or peaceful escapes to her cottage on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire. She found peace in the lake's tranquil setting, cherishing the memories made there with loved ones.

When her family grew to include grandchildren and great grandchildren, Libby's world became even richer. She was a patient and attentive grandmother who never turned down a board game, a card match, or the chance to simply sit and listen to the stories of the younger generations. Her gentle presence and unwavering love left a lasting mark on each of their lives.

Although she enjoyed traveling with Ed and her family, Libby was always most content at home. For her, the true joy of life was not found in faraway destinations but in the company of those she loved most. Her family was, and always remained, her world.

In addition to her parents, John and Anna Blake, Libby was sadly predeceased by her son, John Sacco, her siblings, Anna Cuccinello and her husband Rudy, Mary Sweeney and her husband Bob, Katherine Shea and her husband Paul, John Blake and his wife Betty, Francis Blake and his wife Maryellen, Ricky Blake and her sister-in-law Sissy Blake.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward Sacco, her adoring children, Diane Corton and her husband Richard, Denise Changelian and her husband Mark, Edward J. Sacco and his wife Tracy, Michelle Massaro and her husband Michael, she was the beloved grandmother of Jennifer, Christopher, Steven, Caroline, Andrea, Eddie, Joe, Ashley, Anthony, and Sophia and adored great grandmother to 16 great grandchildren. Libby was the cherished sister of Billy Blake and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

At her request, all funeral services will be private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers the family would request that you use the funds to celebrate her life with your loved ones. Libby would do anything to spend time with her own family and she would be thrilled if she could be the inspiration for you to do the same. Arrangements are by the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. Condolences to her family may be made at www.sullivanfuneralhome.net
