Elizabeth Savage Gregory, better known as Betty, passed away peacefully at her home on September 28,
2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 20, 1948, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Betty brought warmth,
dedication, and kindness to all who knew her.
Betty devoted 31 years of service to the students and staff of Tarrant High School as the Child Nutrition
Program Manager, where she was known for her tireless work ethic, caring spirit, and love for the
children she served. After retiring in 2022, she continued to give back to her community as a volunteer in
the St. Vincent's East Hospital Gift Shop, where she graciously donated over 1,000 hours of her time.
A woman of strong faith, Betty was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for over
50 years. Her faith guided her life and shaped the compassion and generosity she shared with others.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert ("Hugh") Gregory. Betty is survived by her
loving daughters, Megan Gregory and Elizabeth Pilkington, her favorite son in law Patrick Pilkington, and
her four cherished grandsons - Ethan and Jonas Wilson, and Reid and Logan Pilkington - who were the
light of her life.
Betty will be remembered for her gentle heart, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness. She touched
countless lives through her generosity and compassion, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that
will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7th, at Holy Infant of Prague
Catholic Church in Trussville. Interment in the columbarium will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the UAB St. Vincent's Foundation, requesting that the gift
be designated for UAB St. Vincent's East – Volunteers. In honor of Betty's many months of service and
dedication.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Home Health of Birmingham and
Enhabit Hospice of Oneonta for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Betty
and her family.
