Elizabeth Simeone Obituary
Elizabeth Blackwell Simeone age 96 was called to her Heavenly reward at the WhiteStone Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Geensboro on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Beth was born on November 28, 1928, in James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Elizabeth Ashely Blackwell, who passed in 1962 and William Jeferson Blackwell, who passed in 1964, remembered are her sister, Eleanor Wood Dixson who passed in 1977 and a brother William Jefferson Blackwell, Jr. who passed in 1982.
Beth was a graduate of New Hanover High School class of 1947.
Beth was blessed by her marriage to the late Albert Joseph Simeone, for 48 years and 4 months. God lifted Al to his heavenly reward on April 24, 1997. This union brought forth from our Lord, one son Albert Joseph de'Simeone, born March 16, 1951 and passed away November 13, 2004. The three were very closely knit to one another.
Beth served in many civic areas during her early life. She served as President of the Wilmington Auxiliary of the Wilmington Druggist Club, member of the North Carolina Junior Sorosis, Charter member of the Wilmington Woman's Club and became a member of the Eastern Star on November 12, 1965, Goldenrod Chapter No. 142, where she served as Worthy Matron.
Beth and her husband Al formed Cape Fear Chapter No. 346 OES in 1972 and formed A.R.E.M.E. Chapter No. 372 OES in 1987, with Al serving as sponsoring Mason for both Chapters. In 1982 – 1983 Beth served The Grand Chapter of North Carolina Order of Eastern Star as Worthy Grand Matron, and 1985 -1988 served on the International Temple Committee for The General Grand Chapter, The Order of Eastern Star.
Beth was active in the Wilmington Shrine Club (formerly Arab Shrine Club) with her husband Al, and served as President of the Ladies of the Arab Shrine Club in 1974.
Beth was devoted to St. John's Lodge # 1 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of Wilmington and the Arab Shrine Club where her husband Al, her father William Jefferson Blackwell and her son Albert Joseph de'Simeone were members.
Beth lived at the Masonic and Eastern Star Home for many years and helped start the Masonic and Easter Star Home Chapter No.379 OES at the home in Greensboro.
Memorial service plans are not finalized and will be announced.
