Elizabeth June Smith, 93, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Community of Wildwood in Joplin, Missouri. Elizabeth was born on July 2, 1932, in Carthage to Tilton and Evelyn (Lown) Sumners. She worked at Whister's and at one point had a cleaning business. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. She was united in marriage to Dale Smith; he preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Spicer (Duane) of Webb City, Missouri and Janice Lown (Hyrl) of Carthage; four grandchildren, Kenneth Schlup Jr., Eric Lown, Curtis Lown, and Travis Wright; eight great grandchildren, Kasie Holly, Rebecca Lown, Hayley Lown, Courtney Lashmet, Garrett Lown, Trenton Wright, Lizzie Wright, and May Wright; two great-great grandchildren, Hadlee Shryer and Holden Shryer; and one sister, Shirley Philips of Ephrata, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Smith; one son, Bruce Smith; one daughter, Sherry Ramsey; her parents; and seven siblings. There will be a graveside service held for Elizabeth at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, before the graveside service. Condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
