Elizabeth "Betsy" E. Suckow, 81, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

Betsy was born on June 27, 1944 in Jump River, Wisconsin to Alfred "Jack" and Minnie (Buss) Schneider. She attended a one room grade school, through Ladysmith Public Schools, and attended the University of Wisconsin - Stout where she graduated in three and half years with a degree in Dietetics. On March 4, 1967 she was united in marriage to Dennis Suckow in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.

Betsy loved her career as a dietitian, spending 27 years at the Marshfield Clinic. She specialized in pediatrics, diabetes education and helped to develop the initial implementation of the ketogenic diet for PKU patients in Marshfield. She was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church and most recently First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield. Betsy's favorite hobbies included cooking, volunteering in any way for others, sewing and spending time at their cabin on the Flambeau River. When Betsy cooked for you, it meant that she loved you. Baking was her speciality and she was known for making dozens and dozens of different Christmas bars, cookies and candies that ended up on platters as Christmas gifts. Betsy was a volunteer for the Blood Bank of Wisconsin, donating almost 20 gallons of plasma until she could no longer do that when she then helped with drive registration. Betsy was an avid sewer, doing any small or large sewing project sent her way, making bridesmaid dresses or doing formal alterations. She and Dennis enjoyed their summers and falls at their cabin. She most enjoyed reading and swinging on the deck. Her most favorite hobby, undoubtedly, was her grandchildren. She cared for them with all of her being, attending any and all activities they were participating in. She loved planning the annual "grandparent trip" where she and Dennis would take the four grandchildren exploring Wisconsin, stopping at every historical marker on the side of the road with some degree of whining from the kids. Their trip to House on the Rock ranks at the very top. Recently, she became a great-grandmother which was a pure delight for her.

Betsy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She had a rare gift for listening, making everyone feel heard, valued, and understood. People trusted Betsy with their joys and their concerns, knowing she would respond with compassion and wisdom. She was often the first to offer help, stepping in quietly and generously without ever being asked.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, daughters, Caroline (Jim) Walter and Linda (Bobby) Lang, grandchildren, Hannah (Dalton) Kroening, Quincy Lang, Megan (Dillon Muraski) Walter and Bennett Lang, and great grandchildren, Scarlett Kroening-Garcia and Braxton Kroening. Betsy is also survived by her two international daughters, Emma Hogsett (from Ireland) and Karin Soderstrom (from Sweden). She is further survived by her brother, Alfred (Carole Pingle) Schneider and sister in law, Karla (Phil) Bushy, and relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred "Jack" and Minnie Schneider, father and mother-in-law, Howard and Alice Suckow, and sister-in-law, Grace Schneider.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 6, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Pastor Anna von Winckler will officiate. The service will be streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@fpcmarshfield4369/featured. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fagbemi and Julene Diedrich and the staffs of the Emergency Department and 8 North including the infusion center staff of Marshfield Clinic Health Systems. They would also like to thank the staff from Compassus Home Health and the House of the Dove.
