Elizabeth (Libby) Maybin Summey, 94, of Asheville N.C. passed away on September 26, 2025, after a brief illness.

Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Asheville, a member of Nazareth First Baptist Church since the age of 5 where she held several positions in the church over the years, she worked with the children, Missionary, Deaconess, Church Historian, Superintendent of Sunday School, Van Driver just to name a few. She was a graduate of Stephens Lee High.

Elizabeth Maybin Summey's journey from the dawn of December 9, 1930, to the sunset of September 26, 2025, is a testament to a richly lived life. Each day when she graced the world it was filled with moments of joy, love, and resilience. Elizabeth embraced challenges with grace, inspiring those around her to pursue their dreams and cherish their connections. Her laughter echoed in the hearts of many, and her kindness left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

As the sun set on her remarkable life, it illuminated the legacy of compassion and strength she leaves behind. Elizabeth's story encourages us to cherish every moment, to love deeply, and to embrace the beauty of our shared journey. Though her physical presence may fade, the light of her spirit will continue to guide and inspire generations to come. Let us honor her memory by living fully, just as she did, with hope and purpose.

In addition to her parents, Clarence and Flora (Booker) Maybin, Elizabeth (Libby) was preceded in death by all her siblings, Geroldine (Gerri) Holley, Julia Roberts, Marian Fritts, Clarence Maybin Jr., Janet Taylor, Shirley Horton, and Harold Maybin also her loving husband Clarence Summey, and her children, Stanley Maybin, Sharon Galloway, and Myra (Robin) Summey;

Those left to cherish Elizabeth's (Libby) memory are her step-daughter, Carolyn Vincent (Charlie); grandson, Jason Inman (Marlene), and granddaughter Dru Galloway (Robert); great-grandson, Aiden Gipson and great-granddaughters, Aubree Butler and Zamaria Jones. Elizabeth has 4 generations of nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.
