Ella Mae Abrone was born in Pecan Gap, Tx on May 10, 1943, to the parents of Walter Jones and Lola Jones and at an early age of 4 they moved to Munday, Tx along with her siblings who preceded her in death Lola, Willie, Jim, Thomas Ray, Ada Catherine, Kenneth jr., Melvin, Roy, John Julius, Bonnie Bell, David, Joy Robert and she leaves to mourn her passing one sister Sally Jean Butler and a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, third generation nieces, third generation nephews, friends and other relatives. She attended Munday High School who are known as the moguls and was a star female basketball player. She was an old soul and came from an era long gone where hard work was the norm, and I can't - it did not exist. Her laugh was something to hear, and it was hard for her to say no to strangers and to young children. She was everyone's mother and later became everyone's grandmother. If she had it, you had it as she was very selfless and would give until it hurt herself. She loved her church Dallas Full Gospel Holy Temple Church and her late pastor Apostle Lobias Murray whom she called "Preacher". Matt Dillon from Gunsmoke was her favorite past time tv show and catching a bargain at a garage sale was like heaven. Her sister Sally Jean Butler was not just her sister, but was her best friend, confidant, and garage sale buddy. Her family lawyers were Wes Reed and Kevin Kurtz, both of whom she would share so many stories of their support, friendship and legal defense of her family that went far and beyond as simple lawyers but as being a part of her extended family.
Ella Mae Abrone gave birth to fourteen children and four preceded her in death Gary Wayne, Robert, Marcus Wayne and Jack. She leaves to mourn her passing Debra, Sally Annette (Larry), Allen Ray (Katrina), Audrey Laverne (Randall), Larrissa Yalonda (Chris), Carlton Lee (Shelethia), Roy Lee, Ella Elaine, Jerome (Jackie)and Walter Julius; raising all with her husband Roy Lee Abrone Sr. (deceased). She temporarily had legal custody of her great niece Jasmine and great nephew James whom she loved dearly.
She graduated from Munday High School, Madam CJ Walker school of beauty, attended Dallas College and started out working at the historical H.L. Greens and places like diamond cleaners, Weiners, Manpower, Kelly Services, Sams, Wal mart and working herself up to the City of Dallas Water Utilities and finally to the City of Dallas Police Department as a Direct Entry Clerk and 311/411 operator for 25 years of faithful service (retiring).
Her past time hobbies and crafts included making quilts, designing dresses as a seamstress and many other outfits that she designed and created for so many that cannot be numbered. Ella Mae Abrone will be greatly missed as women like her are very rare. Take your rest, you have finished your work.
