Ella Autrey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by B.E. Brown & Co Mortuary on Dec. 16, 2025.
Ella Wee Autrey was born, on March 3, 1935, in Fairhope, Alabama, to the late Annie Lee Reynolds Brown and John Henry Brown. From a life marked by gentleness and grace, Ella was known as a sweet and loving soul. No one ever had an unkind word to say about her, and she, in turn, never spoke ill of anyone, choosing kindness and compassion in all things.

Ella found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching the television show The Golden Girls and enjoyed sewing, using her hands to create with care and patience. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, as she lovingly fed the neighborhood, ensuring that no one left her presence hungry or unloved. She also enjoyed watching football, cheering with enthusiasm and delight.

She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by sons, Tony C. Autrey, Collin L. Autrey, Willie G. Autrey, and Willie "Bud" Autrey; daughter, Annie Louise Nettles and Mary Autrey.

Left to cherish her fond and loving memories to Charles (Cynthia) Autrey of Prichard, Al, Ellen Nettles Smith of Beatrice, AL, Clarence Autrey of Boiling Springs, SC, and Florence Packer of Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law, Esther Autrey; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Ella's life came to a close. Her life was a beautiful testimony of selflessness, generosity, and quiet strength, and her legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
