Ella Cassidy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home on May 4, 2024.
Ella Smith Cassidy, born January 27, 1949, in Pensacola, Florida, passed away on April 25, 2024. Ella is preceded in death by her beloved parents Phil and Merlie Smith, daughter Yasmine Shantè Cassidy, mother-in-law Cecelia Cassidy, and three siblings Betty Warren, Velvora Griff, and Phil Smith Jr.
Ella's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and warmth. After graduating from Booker T. Washington in 1965, she crossed paths with the love of her life, James Aaron Cassidy Sr., in 1967. Their bond deepened over the years, resulting in marriage on December 26, 1970. Together, they settled in West Palm Beach in 1975, where they welcomed their two children, James Aaron Cassidy Jr. and Yasmine Shantè Cassidy. Ella devoted herself to a fulfilling career, spending 15 years with IBM Corporation before dedicating 24 years of service to Palm Beach State College, where she ultimately retired.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ella was known for her nurturing spirit and passion for creation. She found solace and joy in working with her hands; crochet was her favorite pastime. Ella was one of the most thoughtful people you could ever know. Her compassionate spirit knew no bounds; she dedicated herself to giving back to others, assembling care packages, and traveling the city to distribute them to those in need. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who know her.
Ella leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving and devoted husband of 53 years James Aaron Cassidy Sr., son James (Corey) Cassidy Jr., grandchildren August James Cassidy and Olivia Kathleen Cassidy, siblings Victor (Tracey) Smith, Reggier (Robert Sr.) Hardy, Brenda Gulley, Cheryl (Earnest) Sanford, sister-in-law Elaine Henderson, brother-in-law Raymond Griff, and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
In the hearts of those she touched, Ella's spirit will continue to shine brightly, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that endures beyond the bounds of time. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Ella when I first came on board as Admissions Specialist for Palm Beach State. She trained me and coached me in admissions and transcript evaluation, and immediately welcomed me and make me feel part of the team. She was a wealth of information, and I learned a lot from her. Ella will be missed by those of us fortunate to have known her and worked side by side with her. Although she's gone her spirit will go on in the kindness she showed others. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in Peace.

Was great to have known Ella for 14 years. She had a tough exterior but a gentle interior and was a real joy to work with. Always had a quick answer and knew all the short cuts to get things done in the most efficient way. People that knew her will always remember her. She will be missed.

Ella and I shared the same birthday month. We took great pleasure in saying happy birthday to each other during the month of January. Also, I remember the many late nights we worked in the College-wide building.

Ella was so kind and helpful to me when I worked in PBSC´s registrar´s office in the 90´s. We worked on the graduation booklet twice. She is fondly remembered.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ella Cassidy.
I had the pleasure of working with her for over 20 years. I'll always remember Ella for her thoughtfulness, thoroughness in managing "manual" paperback class schedules, what a task, and her willingness to lend a helping hand.

With deepest sympathy

Lunch time with Ella was the best time of the day at work. It was nice to hear her funny stories. I am honored to have met her and worked together for over 10 years. My prayers are with the family.

Ella and I worked together for 25 years. First, she was always so funny and called everything like she saw it. I never saw anybody work as hard as Ella did - weekends, nights, whatever it took to get the job done. She was the ONLY person in student services who knew anything. She was always willing to help anybody. I will miss her dearly. She has found peace with our Lord.

Ella was one of the first people I met after moving from the PBSC Boca Raton campus to the Lake Worth campus. We realized there were a lot of shared professional experiences working for the IBM Corporation. What I remember about Ella is her willingness to share knowledge and lend a helping hand. I could always call on Ella for assistance or ask a question or two.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to her family.
