Ella Jean Cox 88, of Livermore, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. Ella Jean Humphrey was born December 16, 1936 in Livermore, Kentucky to the late Raymond Harold and Ila Ruth Taylor Humphrey and was married to Frank Smith Cox on September 24, 1955.

Ella Jean was a graduate of the former Livermore High School, received her teaching degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College, and furthered her education at Western Kentucky University. She retired as a counselor from Daviess County Public School System and earlier served as an elementary school teacher for McLean County School System.

Ella Jean was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church. She was also a long-time Sunday school teacher at Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, teaching the Class of Esther. Ella Jean enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening as well as raising her herbs. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ella Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Frank S. Cox, who died September 18, 1996; by a granddaughter, Rebecca Ruth May, who died November 13, 1994; and by two brothers, Lester Humphrey and Curtie Humphrey.

Ella Jean is survived by a daughter, Susan Cox (Mike Hicks) of Livermore; two sons, Frank Cox (Betty) of Calhoun and Randy Cox (Linda) of Livermore; three grandchildren, Leslie Cox, Crystal Randolph (Adam), and Michael Cox (Amy); 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Humphrey (Tena) of Livermore; and a sister, Nadine Jennings of Livermore.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Buck Creek Baptist Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Ella Jean's family from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday and 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Musters in Livermore.

The Ella Jean Cox family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Sparks Construction Ministry at Calhoun Baptist Church; P.O. Box 283; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327.
