Ronnie Long 79, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at his home in Owensboro. Ronald Dee Long was born September 19, 1946 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Finley Nathan and Julia Bell Wells Long and was better known as 'Ronnie' to both his family and friends.

Ronnie retired as a mechanic from Commonwealth Aluminum in Lewisport and earlier attended Richland Baptist Church. Ronnie was a U.S. Army Veteran and enjoyed spending time with both his family and friends, as well as spending time on the farm. He also enjoyed gardening, horse racing, trying his luck at casinos, and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Hudson and Sharon Eaton and by a brother, Darrell Long.

Ronnie is survived by his companion of several years, Gay Nell Shadwick; a daughter, Lisa Hancock of Owensboro; two sons, Bryant Long (Tanya) of Hartford and Kevin Long (Cindy) of Utica; seven grandchildren, Ethan Long, Claudia Long, Destiny Williamson, Austin Sapp, Bella Long, Nathan Long, and Seth Long; two great-grandchildren, Harmony Williamson and Axel Shock; a brother, Michael Long (Robin) of Sacramento; a sister-in-law, Faye Long of Richmond, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Military Honors will be conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Ronnie's family from 10:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.

Ronnie's family would like to express their appreciation for the care and personal attention shown by Dr. Tamberly McCoy, ARPN Amy Coy, and the staff of Hospice of Western Kentucky.

The Ronnie Long Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky; 3419 Wathens Crossing; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301.
